US paper, New Jersey’s Star-Ledger a daily ‘cast by ace reporter Brian Donohue earlier this week. Stories for the debut included a local politician resigning, a rock star performance and a kid with disabilities. News is most certainly local.
Over twenty reporters have been trained to use video to make the broadcasts but locals will be encouraged to take videos themselves and upload. Local news becomes really local but also fun.
But what I really like is that Donohue has over 1200 people he follows on Twitter, a considerably larger number of people whom he follows than follow him. Most big bloggers, for example, are completely the other way around. But for an ace reporter, any Tweet could be a story.
I like that!
